07Oct93 DUBAI: DUBAI BRIBERY WRIT - BRITISH CIVIL ENGINEER.

A British civil engineer is being sued by the Dubai government for allegedly accepting bribes and rigging bids for construction contracts. The Dubai authorities believe they have lost up to £100 million.Stephen Trutch, former general manager of the engineer's office in the United Arab Emirates, is also being sued by the UAE's defence minister, Sheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum.Mr Trutch joined the sheikh's staff in 1981 after being a site manager for John Laing.
