Boart International, the mining equipment maker, has signed a partnership agreement with KHGM, the Polish copper mining company.The joint venture, Boart-Lena, will produce hydraulic drilling plant and drilling and cutting tools for both the Polish market and for export.The firm will start with 140 staff and be in the Polish town of Wilkow. KHGM runs four copper mines and three metallurgical plants, as well as 13 other companies working in areas such as construction, repair and maintenance.Boart has a Russian division and this is the firm's second step into Eastern Europe.The Lena division of KHGM produces drilling plant and tools for the copper mines and will benefit from the Boart Group's of technological skills.
