07Oct93 UK: DOT SHARES OUT SE JOBS - WIMPEY AND COSTAIN WIN DOT WORK.

Wimpey and Costain are to share Department of Transport work worth nearly £13 million in South-East England.The largest job has been taken by Wimpey which has been awarded a £7 million contract to build an underpass at the Ashley Heath roundabout near Bournemouth.Work includes the construction of 700 m of dual two lane carriageway which will take A31 traffic under an existing roundabout at the junction with the A 338.Costain has a £5.6 million lane rental job to carry out maintenance on the M3 between junctions 1-2 in Surrey.Work will last eight weeks and includes the reconstruction of both nearside lanes, the overlay of the rest of the motorway and improving a short length of the A 316 trunk road. CONSTRUCTION NEWS
