07Oct93 UK: ROCK BOLTS BLAMELESS, SAYS HSE - BILSTHORPE COLLIERY COLLAPSE.

The Health and Safety Executive's report into the Bilsthorpe colliery collapse which killed three Nottinghamshire miners last month has exonerated the use of rock bolts as a tunnel support technique.But the National Union of Mineworkers and some politicians remain concerned.The HSE investigation blamed the collapse on the construction of a new shaft alongside an existing one.British Coal has accepted a recommendation from the HSE to halt such operations which are known as 'skin to skin' ...
