Caterpillar has filled out the F series wheeled loader line-up with the addition of the 936F.It replaces the 936E and features Cat's own 3304 diesel engine. The turbocharged unit has had a power increase from 101 to 106.5 kW, and is fitted with Fuel Air Ratio Control (FARC) like its bigger F series stablemates, to help it meet all known European exhaust emissions directives. The machine has an uprated torque converter and a planetary power shift transmission. There is an optional fully automatic programmable transmission available. As with all of the F series models the 936F has new heavy duty axles with in-board planetary final drives and oil-immersed disc brakes. It has an operating weight of just under 13 tonnes and can use bucket capacities of between 2.2 and 2.7 cu m. The bucket breakout force is 12.03 tonnes. When equipped with the smaller buckets the 936F has a full lift dump clearance of more than 2.78 m.The operator is well catered for in the F series improved cab as Caterpillar's own contoured seat is fully adjustable with a built-in seat belt. The cab also has the company's Electronic Monitoring System (EMS) which gives a three level audible and visual warning system should anything go wrong with the machine's engine, transmission or hydraulics systems. The 936F can also be fitted with ride control, the boom suspension system that utilises a nitrogen-oil accumulator in the bucket lift circuit to provide a shock absorber effect when travelling with a full bucket.
