The team has driven the 3.35 m diameter tunnel from the power station site to a shaft under an existing jetty on the River Thames.Water cooling at the station will be carried out via two tunnels linking up with the Thames which will collect and return river water to keep temperatures down on the steam turbines.The project is being built by the Balfour Beatty GEC Alsthom consortium for Barking Power.
