Ingersoll-Rand has reported improved earnings for the fourth quarter of 1993 against 1992.Net sales for the fourth quarter totalled $1.1 billion (£755 million), equal to 1992. But operating income increased by 9.6 per cent to $112.5 million (£77 million).Net sales for 1993 were up 6.3 per cent to $4 billion (£2.7 billion) and operating income for the year, before restructuring, totalled $296.5 million (£203 million), up 16.2 per cent.But the Standard Machinery Segment, which includes construction and mining equipment, saw sales fall 6.2 per cent in the fourth quarter.- Ingersoll-Rand has appointed local service distributors in England, Wales and Scotland to complement the company's direct sales operation for portable power products. Somerset-based HM Plant and MB Plant Sales of Halesowen are the new dealers for England and Wales. Scotland is being split between Motherwell Bridge Air Systems in Wishaw and Bob Tait Plant Sales of Aberdeen. CONSTRUCTION NEWS
