The first degree in road surfacing engineering using asphalt has been obtained by Gareth Pugh, who was sponsored at Doncaster College by Tarmac Roadstone Central. He will also receive the 1992 Shell Bitumen UK Award of Excellence.Mr Pugh also has a Bachelor of Engineering (Quarrying and Road Surface Engineering) from the University of Leeds. Other students passing this year's course at Doncaster will also be awarded the degree whereas previously only a Higher National Diploma was available.
