Four British contractors figure among an international field hoping to prequalify for the £1.2 billion, 16 km Oresund link between Denmark and Sweden. The firms feature in three consortia and the line-up is: Laing/GTM Entrepose (France)/ NCC (Sweden)/Pihl (Denmark)/Boskalis (Holland)/Morrison Knudsen (US); Trafalgar House/Balfour Beatty/Norwegian Contractors (Norway)/Dirk Verstoep (Holland); Tarmac/Christiani and Nielsen/SAE (France)/ Strabag (Germany)/Kraftbyggarna (Sweden).About 20 consortia are understood to have applied for the contracts.Pricing the job will be very expensive and contractors hope client Oresundskonsortiet will ask four or fewer to bid.The Swedish government is due next month to decide on whether to go ahead with the planned link.
