British firms are understood to be among contenders hoping to prequalify for the SEK7.27 billion (£606 million) Stockholm ring road in Sweden. The scheme involves two sections, Norra Lanken and Sodra Lanken (the north and south link roads) with 11 contracts in total. The Swedish National Road Administration is expected to award the first contract later this year, probably on the northern link, with work due to start in November. The entire project is scheduled for completion by mid-1999.
