Laing looks set to start work in April on a £25 million office/retail project in Islington, north London.It is understood that the firm is currently negotiating an enabling works contract with the client, London and Manchester Assurance, thus paving the way for Laing to clinch the main contract.Archaeological digs are now going ahead at the Finsbury Pavement site and provided nothing of major significance is uncovered, the main building contract will kick off in the spring. Completion is expected in 117 weeks.The scheme involves redeveloping five levels of a 10-storey building as a 10,000 sq m Marks and Spencer superstore.The remaining 19,000 sq m will be offices.
