14Oct93 DENMARK: BIG TOW - STOREBAELT BRIDGE.

A 55,000-tonne caisson made a 24-hour trip last week to take its place in Denmark's Storebaelt. The 6,700 sq m structure will form the lower part of the eastern anchor block for the 1,624 m span of the East Bridge. The caisson is one of two built by Great Belt Contractors in a dry dock 70 km from Storebaelt. The second will be towed into place next Wednesday. CONSTRUCTION NEWS
