14Oct93 UK: WESTMINSTER MANOEUVRES - LAING.

Laing removes the scaffolding from Victoria Tower at the Palace of Westminster to reveal the restoration work it has done under its £4.9 million contract. The round-the-clock lifting operation, started on Friday, finished early on Monday morning and involved removing three 25 m high towers, two trusses weighing over 20 tonnes each and two smaller towers. The work on the palace included repairs and restoration to stonework and re-gilding many decorative features. CONSTRUCTION NEWS
