Ibstock Johnsen is planning to close five of its 10 brick plants over the next two years, reducing its capacity by 30 per cent, according to broker County NatWest.Last week the company reported pre-tax profits of £3.1 million for the half ending June (1991: £7.2 million).Profits in UK building products tumbled to £2.7 million from £6.7 million and, with prices under pressure, turnover slipped by 12 per cent.
