16Aug91 UK: SEVERN TRENT WATER TO COMPILE LIST OF CONTRACTORS FOR £20M COLESHILL DESIGN AND BUILD THERMAL OXIDATION PLANT.

Severn Trent Water will compile a select list of at least four contractors next month for a £20 million design and build thermal oxidation plant at Coleshill, near Birmingham.Coleshill will be the biggest single plant burning sewage sludge in the UK.The 40,000 dry tonne per annum plant will comprise two thermal oxidisers each rated at half capacity. They will replace the existing smaller unit and burn sludge in compliance with the latest air emission standards.Work will start midway through next year, with the incinerators on line early in 1994.And tenders are due back next month for another Severn Trent project - the £10 million sewage sludge incinerator at Roundhill, near Stourbridge.
