A £150 million waste disposal contract let jointly by Wolverhampton and Dudley councils is set to provide at least two major construction contracts.The refurbishment and upgrading of two formerly council-owned incinerators at Crown Street in Wolverhampton and Lister Street in Dudley are included as part of the 25-year waste disposal package.The winning bid, from Martin Engineering Systems, is to redevelop the Crown Street incinerator to be able to burn 120,000 tonnes of household and light industrial waste. A similar upgrade is planned for the Lister Street facility.The two incinerators will link with the National Grid and are set to include the most modern flue gas cleaning systems available.
