A top American environmental consultant has thrown his weight behind wind energy with a stark warning for UK companies: you may be missing the boat.Dr Peter Daley, senior vice-president of Waste Management International, says: 'The news is that wind power is here. The danger is that schemes are going to get stalled. And the loser will be the environment. It's inexcusable that UK companies are not in this business.'His comments follow Taylor Woodrow's recent decision to pull out of wind energy.Dr Daley referred to recent British newspaper reports that wind farms pose a serious visual pollution problem, arguing that they can be seen more than 40 miles away.'If you can see one of these windmills from 40 miles away without a telescope you must be a peregrine falcon,' he said. But, just as wind power is here, so is the visual pollution argument as campaigners join ranks on the England/ Wales border scheme.
