2012 Olympics fencing arena could be binned

The Olympic Delivery Authority has confirmed it is conducting a review on all temporary venues for the London 2012 Olympics, which could see the fencing arena being scrapped.

It is believed that fears over the cost of the 8,000-seat fencing venue – believed to be as much as £90 million - have lead to it being dropped from the Olympic Park.

Questions had been raised about the future of the temporary structure after a design team was announced for the basketball arena, but not the fencing arena, despite them being on the same OJEU notice.
