Giant lands: The world's largest mechanically driven wheeled loader - the Caterpillar 994 - started work in Europe for the first time last week. The owners of the Carrieres D'Antoing limestone quarry in Belgium paid £1.34 million for the 177 tonne loader. Its tyres alone weigh 4.2 tonnes apiece.Caterpillar has sold more than 70 of the machines across the globe.
