Tarmac has taken the Department of Transport's Thelwall viaduct contract on the M6 with a price of £52.5 million. About half the scheme's costs will go on the new viaduct to take the motorway over the Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal.Work starts this year for 42 months and includes widening 10 km of the M6 from three to four lanes.
