23Aug91 UK: HELEN STONE OF WS ATKINS BECOMES THIRD WOMAN FELLOW OF THE INSTITUTE OF CIVIL ENGINEERS.

Helen Stone, a director of WS Atkins Structural Engineering, has become only the third woman ever to be made a fellow of the Institute of Civil Engineers. The other two were Mary Fergusson in 1957 and Marie Lindley in 1972.Ms Stone is responsible for the structural appraisals group within WS Atkins and provides expert opinion on construction contract performance.She joined WS Atkins in 1972 and became chartered through working on highways and bridges.
