Wimpey Alawi has set up its own precast concrete block production plant at Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat, Oman.Blocks made on site are being used as part of a £17 million contract to upgrade the port including the construction of 460 m of new berths and 200 m of quays.A major part of the 22-month scheme involves building a 500 m sea wall across the Shutaify Bay and the erection of new buildings including a 6,100 sq m container freight shed.
