24Feb94 REPUBLIC OF IRELAND: SUMMER START ON IRISH FACTORY - COILLTE TEORANTA AND LOUISIANA-PACIFIC.

Work should start in the summer on a £40 million strand board factory in the Irish Republic for Coillte Teoranta (the Irish Forestry Commission) and US firm Louisiana-Pacific Corporation.Kilkenny council is considering a planning application for the plant - at Gorteens, next to the new Belle Vue Waterford harbour - and is expected to give the thumbs-up within eight weeks.Work could start on site in July, with production of oriented strand board due to start a year later. The scheme will create about 150 construction jobs.The 30,000 sq m project will be built on 24 ha and includes offices, pump house, transfer station, landscaping and infrastructure work.
