A support base for large, temporary motorway and trunk road signs is now available from Dee-Organ.Called Safebase, it enables almost all sizes of 'Chapter 8' signs to be erected easily without requiring any scaffolding, digging and concreting in foundations, or the use of guying. The base is made from PVC and is coloured bright yellow to make it highly visible to drivers. It will accept up to 24 sand bags, depending on the stability required. This, says the company, ensures that the signs will stay upright, even under extreme weather conditions and withstanding buffeting by high speed heavy vehicles.A feature of the new base is a fully galvanised anti-swivel ring, which clamps on to the sign support post, to stop movement and prevent sign rotation. By slackening the anti-swivel clamp, the sign can be rotated to any required position.Safebase is re-usable and designed for easy stacking.
