James Walker and Company has launched a lubricating grease called Micro-mu 2 which is claimed to change the surface structure of metal by bonding to it a very low friction film one molecule thick. This film permanently reduces wear in metal bearings, says the company, and enables them to run at higher loads, speeds and temperatures. The new grease is applied by gun or packed in bearings in the normal way.
