£250m Alsop hotel gets planning

The £250m hotel development designed by Alsop Architects in Blackfriars has been granted planning by the City of London Corporation.

The 28,000m², seven storey hotel will replace the Mermaid Conference and Event Centre and dockside office buildings next to Blackfriars station.

It will include 251 bedrooms, a gym, a spa, a swimming pool, conference rooms and banqueting and events facilities.

The Will Alsop-designed hotel will feature translucent concrete and glass cladding, and a glass-only facade on the river side.
