25Jun92 UK: AMEC BEGINS £35M DESIGN, CONSTRUCT AND MANAGE CONTRACT FOR BOOTS IN NOTTINGHAM.

AMEC Design and Management has started on a £35 million design construct and manage contract for three schemes for Boots at Beeston, Nottingham.The projects include constructing a corporate headquarters, building an automated warehouse and adapting a Grade I listed building for offices and quality control laboratories.Due for completion next May, the headquarters will provide 3,260 sq m of air conditioned offices for 100 staff.At 5,780 sq m, the warehouse is bigger and will be capable of holding 50,000 storage containers in an area that will be 12.5m high to the eaves. This scheme is due to be completed in mid-1993.The other part of the job involves refurbishing part of the D 10 production building designed by Sir Owen Williams and opened in 1993. Work involves replacing windows and roof coverings and completion is due in March 1994. CONSTRUCTION NEWS
