Hochtief, the second largest German contractor which bought a 48 per cent stake in Ballast Nedam earlier this year, increased its domestic turnover by 9 per cent to £3.3 billion in 1993. The contractor has been using this cash flow to finance expansion abroad, most recently winning the £300 million rebuilding of the Beirut airport. CONSTRUCTION NEWS
