Funding has still to be put in place for the £300 million Blue Water retail project at Dartford, Kent. But a start on site is still expected later this year, a spokesman for the developer said last week. The project is being promoted by Blue Circle Properties, which owns the 85 ha site.Proposals for what is one of the largest retail schemes ever in Britain include 150,000 sq m of retail space, 11,600 sq m of leisure facilities and 13,000 parking spaces. The masterplan for the project was approved by Dartford planners - but since then government planning advice has come out against large out-of-town schemes.
