BP's Forties oilfield in the North Sea produces millions of barrels of crude. But the field now has onshore competition in the shape of Forties Road, Aberdeen, happily named after the offshore field.The onshore oil comes ready-refined and there is no need for expensive drilling equipment and platforms - the oil, red diesel to be exact, is just bubbling to the surface.So far 2,000 gallons have been reclaimed - but experts from the North-East River Purification Board have so far been unable to identify where it is coming from, and no one has reported it missing.
