Tenders from a select list of contractors should be invited late next year or at the start of 1996 for a £55 million hospital in Dartford, Kent.The Dartford and Gravesham Shadow NHS Trust is preparing a formal submission for the hospital at Darenth Park which it will deliver to the Department of Health and the Treasury by the middle of next month.A team will be chosen in May for detailed designs.The former Darenth Park Hospital, closed since 1986, will be demolished to make way for the 600-bed, three-storey acute general hospital which is likely to be of nucleus design.The project is due for completion by the end of 1998.About 300 houses are also proposed on the site, with around one-third of the total area open space.
