28Oct93 UK: FOR THE STINKING RICH - £41.5M SEWAGE TREATMENT WORKS.

Strathclyde Regional Council is wrangling with Kyle and Carrick District Council over plans to build a £41.5 million sewage treatment works in prosperous Greenan rather than Newton to the north of Ayr.Strathclyde argues that the more expensive Greenan option should be chosen as the nuisance would affect fewer people.This was despite a consultant's report which recommended Newton, which is £6.5 million cheaper.
