JOB: Refurbishment of Arley Tunnel, on the Birmingham to Leicester line near Nuneaton. The work comprises grit-blasting and cleaning the brick lining, installing concrete piles, ground beams and a sophisticated electronic system to monitor movement in the tunnel, lining the tunnel with sprayed concrete and excavating the base and relining with tunnel segments.CONTRACTOR: Mowlem Northern Civil Engineering.AWARDED BY: British Rail.VALUE: £4.2 million.
