Renato Caronna, the European Commission official behind plans to harmonise construction liability across Europe, is suing the commission for ECU 100,000 (£80,300).He claims the commission failed in its duty to defend him against an alleged libel in Cunard Enchaine, France's equivalent of Private Eye.The weekly magazine published an article last December criticising proposals for a draft directive on contractors' liability, which Mr Caronna was responsible for drawing up.Mr Caronna ...
