29Oct92 UK: APPOINTMENT AT WIMPEY - QUINTON TO REPLACE CHETWOOD.

Non-executive chairman Sir Clifford Chetwood has confirmed that he will be retiring at the end of this year and will be replaced by Barclays Bank chairman Sir John Quinton.Sir Clifford joined the company over 40 years ago and was appointed chief executive in 1982 and executive chairman in 1984. He became non-executive chairman at the end of 1991.
