Komatsu UK, the British manufacturing arm of Japanese construction equipment giant Komatsu, is to cut 30 jobs at Birtley, County Durham.It blames 'the worst slump in 40 years' for the cuts but hopes the jobs will go through natural wastage, voluntary severance and secondment to other employers to leave a workforce of about 400.While building and civil engineering are said to have fallen by around 30 per cent this year Komatsu claims that the plant market has suffered a 60 per cent drop ...
