£650m merger talks on hold

MERGER talks between Bryant Group and Alfred McAlpine have been halted but are expected to re-start when the house builders post results in February and March respectively.

Talks began before Christmas but both sides stepped back when news of the meetings became public last week.

A merger, worth £650 million, would create the country's second biggest house builder in stock market value behind the Berkeley Group.
