£80m deal seeks bids

AN ALLIANCE between 10 arm's length management organisations is looking for firms to share £80 million of social housing work under a four-year framework.

The London Area Procurement Network was set up last year to increase members' buying power using funds from the Government's Decent Homes initiative.

The framework, advertised in the Official Journal this week, will cover building repairs, maintenance and improvement works to social housing across the capital.

The LAPN is based on partnering strategies pioneered by Sir Michael Latham's 1994 Constructing The Team report.

It aims to improve the value for money of repair, maintenance and construction programmes by 20 per cent by 2010.

Contractors have until July 7 to express interest.
