A flair for practical solutions

ADENSTAR is a contractor specialising in civil engineering in the south coast region with a turnover of about £10 million a year.

Managing director Derek Chapman is proud of its recycling pedigree. 'It's company policy to use recycled material wherever possible, and, where it's not possible, we state the reason why,' he says.

The firm recently completed a road contract in Burgess Hill where all aggregates for the sub-base were recycled - a total of 50,000 tonnes.

Mr Chapman has a track record as an innovator, introducing an American concrete kerb slipformer and the first trailer-mounted concrete pump to the UK. 'I'm not an inventor,' he says. 'We see what the problem is and try to find a solution.'
