Abu Dhabi invites firms to express interest in hotels

The Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) has invited companies to express interest in two projects in Abu Dhabi.

The projects are the Eastern Mangrove and the Abu Dhabi Golf Club Hotel.

The contracting joint venture established by TDIC and Australia's Gulf Leighton was expected to build both projects, but TDIC now plans to tender both projects separately.

TDIC issued tender documents for the Eastern Mangrove on 4 December with a closing date of 29 January.

The company will issue tenders for the Golf Club Hotel on 15 February with a closing date of 31 March.

The Eastern Mangrove project will involve the construction of a 223-room five-star hotel with conference facilities, retail outlets and 129 apartments.

The Golf Club Hotel project will be developed next to Abu Dhabi Golf Course.

It includes the construction of a 148-room hotel and conference centre.

UK-based Turner & Townsend is the project manager (MEED 30:4:08).
