Act reform analysis due

THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry is due to publish its analysis of this summer's consultation on the Construction Act by the end of this month.

Officials have been poring over industry responses to potential changes to the legislation since the consultation closed in June.

But industry sectors seeking firm action from Government to overhaul payment practices are set to be disappointed as construction minister Alun Michael is said to be lukewarm on the issue.

One insider said: 'You get the impression they would dearly love to kick the issue into the long grass.'
