Advance works to start for M25 widening

Connect Plus will start early site preparation and vegetation clearance work alongside two sections of the M25 from next week.

The work for the Highways Agency, which has an advance works contract with the consortium made up of Balfour Beatty, Atkins, Skanska and Egis Projects, is in preparation for the M25 widening schemes which are expected to start in 2009, with Junctions 16 to 23 first on the agenda.

In summer 2009 widening work between Junctions 27 and 30 is expected to start.

The advance works are necessary to ensure the Agency meets its programmed start date for the M25.

Connect Plus is the preferred bidder for the M25 DBFO contract but funding is yet to be finalised.

The Highways Agency expects to announce the award of the M25 DBFO contract in February 2009.
