Age need be no bar to employment


Sir, Perhaps John J Irwin ( Experience seems to count for nothing , Letters, June 2) might do better changing to a construction recruitment company with a track record of placing those with experience in permanent positions.

We have been doing exactly that for some 20 years so have a few grey hairs of our own.

To a 25-year-old graduate recruiter, someone in their late 40s is old. To someone pushing 60 like me, late 40s is rather young.
