Aggies giant swoops for two firms

STONE and concrete producer Aggregate Industries has expanded its contracting division by buying two Lincolnshire-based companies.

Bardon Contracting, the surfacing arm of Aggregate Industries, has snapped up Bourne-based Sitebatch and Roller Compacted Concrete for an undisclosed sum.

The two businesses will continue to operate under their existing names and will form a subdivision of Bardon.

All 20 employees from the two firms are expected to transfer to Aggregate Industries.

Bardon Contracting's managing director, Hugh Armitage, said: 'The acquisitions complement our existing business.'
