Al-Habtoor wins Zayed University contract

The joint venture of the local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises and South Africa's Murray & Roberts Contractors (Middle East) has been awarded the estimated AED3bn ($817m) contract to build the new Zayed University campus in Abu Dhabi.

Located in Khalifa City, the project involves the construction of a 750,000 square-metre campus with a total built-up area of 200,000 square metres. Completion is expected in July 2011.

Government-controlled Mubadala Development Company is the client.

The project is the second university deal to be awarded to the contracting joint venture in 2008.

In May it was awarded the contract to build the Sorbonne University on Reem island
