Alpha adds minis

FAST-GROWING hirer Alpha Plant has bought 57 JCB minis to add to recent orders for skid steers and tracked excavators from the manufacturer.

The range of minis from 1.5 tonnes to 5 tonnes will be based at Alpha's Milton Keynes depot, and will be transported between there and its other two main depots at Gravesend, Kent, and Edmonton, north London.

The hirer has also bought 10 21.5-tonne JS210 tracked excavators from dealer Greenshields JCB.

These were specified because the track width of 2.9 m is narrow enough to be road transported without a permit, and will not require an escort through the Dartford Tunnel.

Alpha now has a fleet of 650 machines in three divisions: general plant, access and skid steers.
