Altrincham centre draws five bidders

FIVE firms are in the line-up to price a shopping centre in Lancashire.

The Stamford centre, developed by Park Lane Estates, will be in Altrincham.

The five firms on the list are Balfour Beatty, Kier, Laing O'Rourke, Miller and Mowlem.

The current shopping centre will be demolished, making way for larger retail units and a 740-space multistorey car park.

Tenders for the scheme were returned earlier this week.

Park Lanes Estates plans to shortlist up to three firms to work up final bids.

A winner is due by the end of July. Work will start this October.
