Amec acquires £137m nuclear business

Amec has bought Serco’s nuclear Technical Services business for £137 million.

TS employs about 600 staff, and its clients include the Ministry of Defence, EDF, Magnox and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Its main work is to ensure the safety of nuclear reactors.

Amec chief operating officer Neil Bruce said: “This acquisition is fully aligned with our Vision 2015 growth strategy and further builds Amec’s footprint and capabilities in the clean energy market.”

TS had revenue of about £70m in 2011 and its earnings before interest, tax and amortisation were around £13m.
