Arm caught up in mixer

A BUILDER was horrifically injured when his arm got caught in a concrete mixer during a road resurfacing job in Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, on Monday.

The 28-year-old reached into the mixer to clear some grout. But his arm was twisted round more than 360 degrees between his left wrist and elbow. Fire crews freed him with an angle grinder and he was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The man was working for Kerr Civil Engineering, a subcontractor of Hamiltonbased Land Engineering, on the Edinburgh City Council project.
