Arup plans high speed rail

Arup has drawn up plans on a high speed rail line north of London via Heathrow.

The engineering firm completed the work, identifying the main costs ranges for feasible route locations.

An early environmental appraisal was also carried out to identify key constraints such as planning and landscape.

The plan would see the Channel Tunnel rail line extended west, parallel to the Great Western railway. After Heathrow trains would run north to Birmingham as far as Scotland.
